Occupants were of the encampment on the corner of Bellevue and Grand were caught stealing packages from 465 Bellevue Ave this afternoon around 1:30pm. As you can see in the pictures, the woman in the green and her friends Pretended to be Amazon, buzzed in to lobby and stole packages. They then took the packages to the Jamaicans on the corner and went back the encampment for drinks and a smoke.
Cops called but it's been 3 hrs and non one showed up. a

Why?
Simple question. what are you allowing these 6 people. All able bodied young men who have DECLINED services offered by the city multiple times to camp on the corner of bellevue and grand?

This encampment has become violent, dirty and has expanded past the 10 tents mark as of December 1, 2023..

Please, this is a major corner of the most public park in Oakland. Offer these people services, and remove the encampment that is littered with trash, toilets, and has repeatedly had police and the swat team come out to make arrests for drug and narcotics deals over the last two months. This place has become unbearable.

This is not a homeless encampment. This is 4 individuals who have repeatedly refused services because they want to ride dirt bikes, steal things, and set fires while drinking beers all day long sitting on Lake Merritt. This place is consistently trashed, the police are showing up multiple times a week, as are the fire department and MACRO. Here you can see one of the encampment members, a teenager with green hair, doing a burnout on his dirtbike in the middle of the encampment at 12 o’clock on a Tuesday afternoon. Right in front of his own tent.

It’s 4 PM and the Jamaicans on the corner are playing soccer in the only lane of traffic available. They are able to play soccer because they currently have five cars and a tow truck double parked blocking off the street. The only way around them is through the bike lane, which is very dangerous. Again, they have been double parked since 9 AM this morning and there has been zero parking enforcement at the corner of bellevue and Grand. Just like always.

We told you this would happen. Check the previous reports. You allowed this one unstable person to throw trash in the lake for the last three years. This is the second time he’s burned down the rotary club, and the next time he might actually hurt someone. Check the other 311 post. And then tell us why you did nothing and allow this to burn down

Evidence of open fires pictured here. New tents taking up over 1000 square yards of public park. Remove these people who have declined public service multiple times. Enforce the no camping laws we all voted and passed.

Pictured above is open evidence of fire. This encampment needs to be removed as it has been reported multiple times over the last year. Drug used and violence is getting worse every day at the corner of bellevue and Grand. This person is lighting big fires at all times of day. This is bound to catch the neighboring trees on fire. These trees are over 100 years old and need to be preserved. Please remove the encampment as per the laws. We all voted on in passed in 2019. In the pictures posted you can clearly see the fire danger that is at 11 AM on Tuesday. You should see what these people are doing at midnight.

Camper has refused services multiple times. Steals, bikes, and equipment from local construction sites. Regularly has large open flames at all times of day. Illegal drug use and prostitution coming from neighboring tents. Reported multiple times with no action by the city. This place will burn down, and cost the city hundreds of thousands of dollars, versus simply enforcing the no camping van. We all voted and agreed on in 2019.

We have a new and bigger tents and structures popping up on lake Merrit every day. This structure is next to the growing encampment at the corner of bellevue and Grand. This encampment now takes over 1000 yd.² of lakefront space meant to be open to all Oaklanders. The city of Oakland has allowed six people to take up space meant for a whole community. there’s clearly signs posted for no camping in the park. This is illegal, dangerous, and causing health concerns and community issues for the residence, park, goers, and city officials who are now tasked with the expense of cleaning up the money spent on this encampment, and it’s mismanagement could’ve been better used. This group has repeatedly ignored and turn down the city services. At some point it’s time for enforcement. Please city of Oakland, stop passing the buck and start enforcing the rules that we all voted on.

The person in this tent has become violent with his encampment neighbors. This week he threatened someone with a tire iron, and this morning he threatened someone on the lake with his golf club. He also attempted to run over someone else in the park with his motorized, scooter and trailer. This is the same man who built a multi room

Between the Jamaican gang on the corner and their mobile restaurant, they set up every weekend all lanes of traffic, the bike lane, the red handicap spots, and in front of the hydrant are all blocked with illegal Parkers. There’s trucks blocking the view of the crosswalk. It’s a very unsafe environment. It’s 11 o’clock on Saturday. The lake is busy, there’s zero enforcement. Oakland is simply not doing its job.

Picture speak for themselves. About 25 cars parked on the grass no wonder Oakland Public Works hast to redo the sprinkler system every three months. This happened right in front of police, zero enforcement.

If you’re not going to allow people to camp under a freeway in East Oakland. Do not allow them to camp on Lake Merritt. This homeless encampment has been operational since 2016 and has been cleared out multiple times simply enforce the no camping rule around lake Merritt please

The above picture is taken at 5 PM on a Thursday afternoon. As you can see, there’s one car parked in the red right next to the stop sign obstructing the view of oncoming traffic. There is also 4 cars double parked while a group gambles on the sidewalk. So the street is blocked, and the sidewalk is blocked. And it’s the only sidewalk on the street. So people have to push their baby strollers and walk their children into oncoming traffic to get to the park. This is not safe and has been going on for four years. it’s time to enforce the law equally and make sure that the streets are clear for everyone to use. Please don’t allow this group to continue to illegally park without being taken it. Please do not allow this group to continue to take over this corner and drive others away.

There is a homeless person who pitched a tent within 20 feet of the children’s playground. This is completely unacceptable. This tent as pictured is also sitting on the jogging path. It’s been there for over 48 hours and needs to be removed immediately as this is a children’s play area, and they jogging path. Have some respect for the neighborhood city of Oakland enforce your own rules.

There is a tent city growing on Lake Merritt and conditions are getting really bad here. The city has attempted to clear this encampment three times over the last two years with no action and nothing but cost to the taxpayers. There are now 7 tents set up on the Bellevue side of the lake between grand and Staten Avenue. One of the inhabitants in particular is mentally unstable, threatening, and screams racial slurs at anyone trying to enjoy the park. Neighbors have called for services and help for these people for three years with no action. We can no longer even use the park due to the amount of encampment, trash, and human feces piled under every tree. Please help the citizens and clear these seven people from ruining the park for the other 4000 visitors.

This woman in the red tent has been pooping on trees, lighting fires, screaming profanities including racial slurs and disturbing residence for the last six months. Last night she danced naked on the lake after lighting fires and having OPD and Oakland fire come out to talk to her. The fact that the city is forcing the residence to deal with this issue sums up the problem with Oakland. this homeless encampment has been Scheduled to be cleared and was attempted to be cleared several times this year, at nothing but a waste of money to the taxpayers. You need to take action now and remove this dangerous harmful individual from the park that everyone is trying to use..

Homeless encampment is growing and illegal dumping is flowing all over the park. There is a clear no camping sign posted yet tense continue to set up for the last three years here.
